"I was born and raised in New York City, New York. My parents own a bar/club called Fragmented Starling and oddly enough, it’s really not as bizarre as you’d think to spend the first of your formative years living above a club. My mom (Cori) and my dad (Liam) met at the Life Café where Mom was in a bad mood because she’d just lost her job for trying to help out a little kid. Dad flirted with her, she was charmed, he showed off his soon-to-be-opened club, hired her and proceeded to fuck her senseless all over the bar.

I was born a couple of years after mom and dad got together. That's right, kids. SOME people KNOW how to use birth control. *applause*

So, a little about Dad for a moment. When he was younger, he was in a band called Fragmented Starling. Sound familiar? Exactly. FS is named for the band. Good on you. He and Fallon (Ash’s mom) were in the band together, and when he came to NYC to open FS, he knew exactly who he wanted to be his big crowd draw. So, he reestablished his friendship/near-siblinghood with Fallon, who was engaged and pregnant, and really? The rest is history.

So, I grew up kind of outside this huge crazy family that Ash had, but kind of in it too. And Ash and I were best friends growing up. When I was 14, I told Ash I had a thing for her, she blinked a lot and we wound up together. Shock and awe.

We've been together ever since, and we're still madly in love.

We've got a daughter named Rumour. She was a surprise (not a mistake) and we love her more than the world itself.

Ash is on Broadway (she's my little Diva), I am lead singer in the Neverland Kids, the band I started and reformed several times over the years. We don't play covers unless there's a damn fine reason to, but I do occasionally sing other people's songs to my wife and daughter."

“I was born and raised in NYC. *puts on his best snooty voice* That’s New York City, for those of you who may live under rocks and not know. *normal voice* Or who knows, you all may have actual lives and not think the USA is the center of the world. Imagine that. Sorry, I’m horribly sick of the elitist attitude of my homeland.

ANYWAY, as I was saying, I was born and raised in NYC. My parents own a bar/club called Fragmented Starling and oddly enough, it’s really not as bizarre as you’d think to spend the first of your formative years living above a club. My mom (Cori) and my dad (Liam) met at the Life Café (GOD, why is it always the Life? Does no one go to the fucking PARK anymore?) where Mom was in a bad mood because she’d just lost her job. Dad flirted with her, she was charmed, he showed off his soon-to-be-opened club, hired her and proceeded to woo her (if you consider screwing her senseless to be wooing that is). Oh, and from day one? She was ‘Doll-face’ and he was ‘Boss-man’. And yes they still call each other by those pet names. Honestly, it’s a touch creepy.

Yeah, so… they had a couple of years of blissful ‘groiny goodness’ as Ash would put it before Mom threw a little hissy fit about getting old. And what better way to feel young than to have kids? Hello world. Yes, I am here because my mother had a panic attack about aging. Umm… thanks?

So, a little about Dad for a moment. When he was younger, he was in a band called Fragmented Starling. Sound familiar? *waits patiently while you all go back to the second paragraph…* Exactly.

Which is good, because I needed reprieves from Doll-face and Boss-man like you wouldn’t believe. Or maybe you would. Either way, I was glad for a friend.

When I was 14, Ash’s world fell apart. Her sister and best friend (beyond me. Ha), Dawna, told Ash she was pregnant, and less than a week later, she was gone. No one knew where, and Ash was heartbroken. She threw herself into her aspirations of being on Broadway, and nothing I or anyone else said could stop her. She was obsessed and using the work as a means to escape her reality. Offstage she was quiet, withdrawn and depressed, onstage she would come alive, but it was a mask, an act. She was the quintessential actress.

So, one night I got really tired of my friend being gone, and I went to her house and argued with her and told her to let it all go and I wouldn’t let her shut down any further. We wound up having sex that night, and when it was done, Ash withdrew again so fast I could almost see the walls come back up. So we went downstairs and watched TV and returned to being best friends, neither of us discussing what we’d done.

And so it was. Ash was withdrawn and I was hopelessly in love with her. I stayed her best friend, always pining for her, hating her boyfriends, but smiling along with her whenever she’d find a new one.

And then one day, soon after her Grandpa Tony told everyone about the cancer that’s killing him, she was supposed to meet me for lunch and didn’t show up. I, of course, panicked and called her dad, hoping she hadn’t done something rash. Little did I know she had indeed, only her rash act was hopping on a plane and heading off to London to visit her sister.

She mentioned in an e-mail that she missed me, and I took a chance, jumped on a plane myself and went to London. Once there, I found her, offered her an umbrella and gave her a kiss, letting my feelings for her show. It seemed to wake her up, somehow. And our fairy tale began.

We’ve decided to stay in London, and the night of her last show, I proposed to her on stage. A few weeks later, we discovered that we are having a baby. And the fairy tale continues. Join us?
